Turkish stocks flat at Friday’s open

BIST 100 index marginally up by 1.12 points from previous close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,398.04 points on Friday, up 0.08%, or 1.12 points, from the previous close.

At Thursday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.84% to 1,396.92 points, with a daily trading volume of nearly 15 billion Turkish liras ($1.69 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.9050 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 8.8820 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 10.2810 from 10.2740,while one British pound traded for 12.1110 Turkish liras, down from 12.1300.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $82.92 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
