
BIST 100 falls nearly 10 point from Tuesday’s new record-high close
Turkiye’s benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul closed on Wednesday with losses, down 0.43% to 2,316.40 points.
Starting the day at 2,330.03 points, the BIST 100 index fell 9.89 points from Tuesday’s new record-high close of 2,326.29 points.
During Wednesday’s trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 2,308.27 and 2,348.17 points as 40 stocks rose, 59 fell, and one was flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of around 1.9 trillion Turkish liras ($129 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 43.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.9 billion).
Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines,petrochemical firm Petkim, and private lender Garanti BBVA posted the highest trading volumes on Wednesday.
Automotive company Dogus Otomotiv (DOAS) was the best performer with its shares up 9.97%, while shares of Turkish conglomerate Net Holding (NTHOL) dropped the most, 5.01%.
An ounce of gold traded for $1,927.45 by market close, down from $1,929.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil jumped to $103.65 per barrel as of 7.20 p.m. local time (1620GMT) on Wednesday, down 2.80% from the previous close.
