ANKARA, July 1 — Türkiye’s Ministry of Treasury and Finance will conduct two direct debt sales on July 2, offering a two-year gold-denominated government bond and a gold-backed lease certificate (sukuk), according to the ministry’s domestic borrowing schedule.
The offerings will consist of:
- A two-year (728-day) gold-denominated government bond with coupon payments every six months.
- A two-year (728-day) gold-backed lease certificate (sukuk) that will provide rental payments on a semiannual basis.
Both instruments will be issued through the Treasury’s direct sale method, which is commonly used for selected investors rather than through a competitive auction process. The issuances form part of the government’s domestic borrowing program and are aimed at providing investment opportunities linked to gold while supporting the Treasury’s financing strategy.
Gold-linked government securities have become a recurring feature of Türkiye’s domestic debt issuance program, offering investors an alternative savings instrument backed by gold while helping the government diversify its funding sources.
