Turkiye: $1.5 billion income was obtained from the export of dried fruits and products

Turkish dried fruit and products sector realized exports of $1 billion 573 million 464 thousand in 2022.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Southeastern Anatolian Exporters’ Associations (GAIB), Turkish exporters sold 498,926 tons of dried fruits and products to 153 countries in 2022.

Exporters of the sector, which sold $1 billion 568 million 816 thousand in 2021, earned $1 billion 573 million 464 thousand last year.

Raisins and dried apricots became the locomotive of the sector

The sector obtained the most foreign currency from seedless raisins with $431 million 109 thousand. This product was followed by dried apricots with $402 million 189 thousand and dried figs with $246 million 345 thousand.

The most exports were made to Germany with $204 million 379 thousand. Germany was followed by the UK with $154 million 269 thousand and the USA with $126 million 178 thousand.

Aegean Exporters’ Associations with $852 million 661 thousand and GAIB with $335 million 352 thousand were the unions with the companies that provide the most income in the sector.

GAIB Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Chairman Mehmet Cikmaz told Anadolu Agency (AA) that last year’s exports of Turkish dried fruits and products exceeded $1.5 billion.

Stating that their sectors make a significant foreign exchange contribution to the country’s economy, Cikmaz said:

“We are making significant exports of dried apricots and pistachios in our region. Our exports, especially in dried apricots, make us smile. Our union is the second largest union of companies that export the most. Turkish dried fruits are loved and consumed in Europe. It accounts for 41.6% of our European exports. Our exports to Russia increased by 58.6% compared to the previous year.”
