In 2022, $967 million 68 thousand of pasta export was made to 160 countries from Turkiye.
Aykut Goymen, President of the Turkish Pasta Manufacturers Association, said that Turkiye ranks third in pasta production and second in exports in the world.
Stating that the Turkish pasta industry has a say in the world, Goymen said, “The Turkish pasta industry consists of 26 enterprises. These producers have a total annual pasta production capacity of 2.2 million tons. The Turkish pasta industry first started exporting with 13 tons, now it is at the level of million tons.”
Pointing out that the demand for Turkish pasta is constantly increasing, Goymen said:
“The world now knows the quality and taste of Turkish pasta. Our country sent pasta to 160 countries last year. In 2021, Turkiye generated a revenue of $777 million 947 thousand in return for 1 million 364 thousand 547 tons of pasta export. Last year, our sector made significant gains in terms of value. Last year, our pasta industrialists exported 1 million 341 thousand 996 tons of pasta, and in return, they provided $967 million 68 thousand of foreign currency inflow to our country. There was a small decrease in the amount, but in terms of value, our Turkish pasta industrialists increased their exports by 24.3%. The largest exports were to Venezuela, Somalia and Benin.”
Target is 1.5 million tons of export
Stating that the Turkish pasta industry is in competition with Italy, which is a brand in this field, Goymen drew attention to the fact that the sector provides employment to approximately 40 thousand people.
Goymen said, “The main points of preference for Turkish pasta are to be in a more strategic position in terms of logistics and logistics compared to competing countries. These features reveal the advantages of Turkish pasta industrialists. We want to increase our exports to higher levels. Our target this year is 1.5 million tons of export.”
