Turkiye: $2.7 billion export from the jewelry industry

The exports of the jewelry industry reached $2 billion 697 million 965 thousand in the first 6 months of the year with an increase of 9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey’s total exports in the first 6 months increased by 20% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $126 billion.

During this period, exports of the jewelry industry followed a fluctuating course. The sector sold $359 million 335 thousand in January, 433 million $177 thousand in March, $351 million 688 thousand in May and $535 million 855 thousand in June.

In the January-June period of this year, jewelry exports increased by 9% compared to the same period of the previous year and rose from $2 billion 476 million 319 thousand to $2 billion 697 million 965 thousand.

The USA ranked first in exports with $505 million 742 thousand. Foreign sales to this country increased by 31.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

United Arab Emirates with $478 million 249 thousand, Hong Kong with $282 million 799 thousand, Iraq with $152 million 536 thousand and Israel with $128 million 628 thousand followed the USA.

Istanbul ranked first in the jewelry industry’s exports

In terms of the province, Istanbul ranked first in the jewelry industry’s exports in the January-June period. 87.5% of the sector’s total exports were made from the city with $2 billion 360 million 747 thousand.

Corum with $252 million 167 thousand, Ankara with $25 million 390 thousand, Kastamonu with $21 million 149 thousand and Samsun with $14 million 868 thousand followed Istanbul.
