Turkiye: 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahramanmaras

Turkiye has experienced one of the biggest earthquakes of recent years. An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in Kahramanmaras. While the current number of casualties is determined as 1498, it is feared that the figure will change due to the large number of dents that have been intervened.

The Kahramanmaraş earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers. There were many aftershocks, the largest of which was as devastating as 7.6. An earthquake of 7.7 magnitude occurred at 04:17 in the morning in the Pazarcik district of Kahramanmaras. While many large aftershocks occurred after the earthquake, the 7.6 magnitude aftershock at 13.24 was recorded as Elbistan-centered.

Statements and warnings were made one after another from AFAD, Red Crescent and the relevant units of the state. There are those who are under the rubble, those who are rescued. Ministers and governors were assigned to earthquake regions and directed. While the current number of casualties is determined as 1498, it is feared that the figure will change due to the large number of dents that have been intervened.

The cities where the destruction occurred after the earthquake are as follows:

Kahramanmaras, Malatya, Gaziantep, Hatay, Adana, Kilis, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, Osmaniye.
