Turkiye: $951.4 million export from Thrace Region

Tekirdag, Kirklareli and Edirne achieved an annual export of $951 million 400 thousand 123 with an annual increase of approximately 30% in the January-June period.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Thrace, which made $732 million 763 thousand 65 of foreign sales in the first 6 months of last year, increased its exports by $218 million 637 thousand 58 (29.8%) in the same period of this year.

Tekirdag became the leader of the region’s exports with $823 million 960 thousand 60. Exports were $91 million 133 thousand 26 from Kirklareli and $36 million 307 thousand 37 from Edirne.

The sector that exports the most from Tekirdag was recorded as the chemical materials and products sector with $138 million 917 thousand 70. This sector was followed by the electricity and electronics sector with $135 million 585 thousand 33, and the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector with $113 million 64 thousand 10.

The main export product of Edirne and Kirklareli is cereals

Mostly grains, pulses, oil seeds and their products were exported from Kirklareli and Edirne.

In this sector, Kirklareli’s exports amounted to $38 million 32 thousand 28, and Edirne’s exports were $11 million 391 thousand 77.

In the first 6 months of the year, Kirklareli’s textile and raw material exports increased by 39.6%, and its ready-to-wear and apparel exports increased by 4.5%.

In the exports made from Edirne, the increase of 50.6% in the export of fisheries and animal products, and the 23,6% increase in the exports of cement, glass, ceramics and soil products drew attention.

During this period, Tekirdag and Kirklareli sold mostly to Germany, and Edirne to Bulgaria.

While products worth $163 million 592 thousand 6 from Tekirdag and $9 million 969 thousand 2 from Kirklareli were sent to Germany, the amount of export made from Edirne to Bulgaria was $5 million 948 thousand 31.

Record increase in flour export from Kirklareli to Angola

The export of this product to Angola, where $1 million 540 thousand 97 of flour was sold from Kirklareli in the January-June period last year, reached $8 million 318 thousand 22.

Soner Ilik, President of Kirklareli Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that as of June this year, exports to 111 countries were carried out from the city.

Expressing that cereals and products obtained from cereals lead the way in the export of the city, Ilik said, “Exports are also carried out from Kirklareli to Angola. We exported not only to Angola but also to 111 countries. Processed cereals, biscuits and bread flour are going to Angola. Hopefully, it will be even better.”
