Turkiye: About $14 billion export to the Balkans in 8 months

Exports to the Balkans geography increased by 28.7% in 8 months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $13 billion 939 million, while the highest export was to Romania with $4 billion 173 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), $13 billion 939 million were exported to the Balkan geography in 8 months of the year, including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Greece.

While this figure was at the level of $10 billion 828 million in the same period of last year, exports to the Balkans geography increased by 28.7% in the last year.

In the said period, the highest export among Balkan countries was to Romania with $4 billion 173 million. Romania was followed by Bulgaria with $3 billion 59 million, Greece with $1 billion 944 million, Serbia with $1 billion 164 million, and Slovenia with $1 billion 110 million.

In the same period, $665 million 455 thousand were sold to Albania, $485 million 883 thousand to Bosnia and Herzegovina, $430 million 850 thousand to Macedonia, $400 million 908 thousand to Kosovo, $393 million 633 thousand to Croatia, $110 million 165 thousand to Montenegro.

The biggest increase goes to Montenegro

Exports to the Balkan geography increased in 10 countries in the January-August period of this year compared to the same period of 2021. In one country, it decreased.

In this period, the highest increase in exports was recorded in Montenegro with 64%.

After Montenegro, the country with the highest increase in exports among Balkan countries was Albania with 44.5%.

In the said period, exports increased by 40% to Bulgaria, 39.3% to Romania, 31.6% to Macedonia and 29.4% to Serbia. Exports increased by 29.3% to Croatia, 23.5% to Bosnia and Herzegovina, 20.9% to Kosovo, and 11.2% to Greece.

Turkiye’s exports to Slovenia decreased by 0.3%.

47.5% of exports to the region come from Istanbul

When we look at the distribution of exports to the Balkan countries in the 9 months of the year on the basis of provinces, it was seen that the export from Istanbul to this geography was $6 billion 616 million.

With this amount, Istanbul alone shouldered 47.5% of $13 billion 939 million of exports to the Balkan countries.

The most exports were made in the chemicals and products sector

In the 8 months of this year, the chemical materials and products sector made the most exports to the Balkan geography.

In this period, the chemical materials and products sector exported $2 billion 595 million to the Balkan countries.

This sector was followed by steel with $2 billion 364 million, automotive industry with $1 billion 734 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $1 billion 211 million and electrical-electronics with $879 million.
