Turkiye: Automotive supplier industry exports exceeded $6.4 billion

The sub-industry export of the automotive industry, which is the leader in Turkiye’s exports for the 16th consecutive year on a yearly basis, reached $6 billion 493 million in the first 6 months of the year.

According to the compilation made by Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB), automotive sub-industry products were exported to more than 200 countries, free zones and autonomous regions in the January-June period.

The automotive industry, which is the leader in Turkiye’s exports for the 16th consecutive year on a yearly basis, made up 42.5% of the total export sales of $15 billion 261 million 224 thousand in the 6 months of the year.

The sub-industry exports, which were $5 billion 943 million 824 thousand in the January-June period of last year, increased by 9.24% in the same period of this year and rose to $6 billion 493 million 259 thousand.

$1.5 billion of sub-industry exports to Germany

In terms of countries, Germany had the highest share in supplier industry exports. Exports to this country in the 6 months of the year increased by 6.39% compared to the same period of 2021, from $1 billion 440 million 687 thousand to $1 billion 532 million 727 thousand. Sub-industry exports to Germany corresponded to 23.6% of the total supplier industry exports.

The second country to which automotive sub-industry manufacturers export the most was the USA. In the January-June period of last year, $338 million 279 thousand of products were sent to the USA, and the exports made in the same months of this year reached $460 million 376 thousand with an increase of 36%.

The supplier industry’s foreign sales to Italy, which ranks third in the list, decreased by 0.5% from $419 million 941 thousand to $417 million 507 thousand in the same period.

75% increase in sub-industry exports to Czechia

In January-June 2022, compared to the same period of the previous year, France ranked 4th with an increase of 9.47% and $367 million 608 thousand in sub-industry exports, Spain 5th with an increase of 18.29% and $324 million 616 thousand, The United Kingdom ranked 6th with an increase of 4% and $323 million 377 thousand, while Poland ranked 7th with an increase of 17.63% and $267 million 272 thousand.

Poland was followed by Russia with a decrease of 19.62% and $234 million 297 thousand, Romania with an increase of 6.98% and $192 million 533 thousand, Belgium with an increase of 4.90% and $176 million 473 thousand.

In addition, $145 million 145 thousand were exported to Morocco with a decrease of 0.45%, $114 million 200 thousand to the Netherlands with an increase of 8%, and $106 million 28 thousand to Czechia with an increase of 75%.
