Turkiye’s tea exports exceeded $15 million

Tea exports in the first 8 months of the year increased by 27% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $15 million 161 thousand.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKIB) Vice Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that tea was sold to 103 countries in 8 months of the year.

Stating that 4,481 tons of tea were exported in the January-August period, Gurdogan stated that $15 million 161 thousand 847 were obtained from the said exports.

Gurdogan noted that $11 million 898 thousand 412 were earned from 3 thousand 49 tons of tea exports in the same period of last year, and continued as follows:

“Tea exports increased by 47% in quantity and 27% in value compared to the same period of the previous year. Belgium, the United Kingdom and Germany were the three countries that exported the most tea in the said period. In this period, $3 million 893 thousand 902 of tea were exported to Belgium, $2 million 104 thousand 302 to the United Kingdom and $1 million 705 thousand 18 to Germany.

Noting that the diversity of countries increased in parallel with the increase in exports, Gurdogan stated that tea was also sold to Hungary, Cameroon, Estonia and Mayotte during this period.

Emphasizing that it is important to produce tea according to the taste of the consumer in terms of export, Gurdogan stated that he believes that tea exports will rise to much higher levels in the coming days.
