Turkiye: Deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺55.6 billion

The total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺55.6 billion in the week ending February 24 to ₺9 trillion 693.8 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including between banks) increased by ₺55 billion 633 million 310 thousand in the week ending February 24 and rose to ₺9 trillion 693 billion 837 million 735 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 2.7% to ₺5 trillion 382 billion 955 million 658 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits decreased by 2.2% to ₺3 trillion 934 billion 73 million 591 thousand.

While the total FX deposits in banks were $219 billion 173 million last week, $185.8 billion of this amount was collected in the accounts of residents.

Looking at the change in total FX deposits of domestic residents, there was a decrease of $4 billion 157 million as of February 24, in parity adjusted data.

The amount of installment commercial loans increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 4.1% last week to ₺1 trillion 126 billion 547 million 749 thousand. In the same period, commercial loans with installments increased by 0.3% to ₺883 billion 971 million 507 thousand, and the balance of credit cards increased by 2.8% to ₺727 billion 838 million 936 thousand.

Consumer loans in deposit banks consisted of ₺336 billion 37 million 59 thousand for housing, ₺44 billion 466 million 147 thousand for vehicles and ₺746 billion 44 million 543 thousand for other loans.

The total loan volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺96 billion 500 million 555 thousand in the week ending February 24 and reached ₺7 trillion 711 billion 269 million 243 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 54.06% compared to the same period of the previous year.
