Türkiye Expands Energy Storage Reach Into Europe Through Maxxen

Türkiye is strengthening its position in the European energy market as local energy storage company Maxxen accelerates its expansion into Europe with large-scale battery storage solutions.

Driven by the rapid growth of renewable energy investments across Europe, energy storage systems have become a critical part of maintaining grid stability and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply. Turkish engineering firms are increasingly taking part in international projects, with Maxxen emerging as one of the country’s key players in the sector.

Maxxen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Turkish energy company Kontek Enerji, operates a high-tech Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) production facility in Aydın. The company aims to export around 70% of its production, primarily targeting European markets.

Company officials stated that the facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 10 GWh within five years, with export revenues projected to exceed $1 billion. The plant is equipped with AI-supported quality control systems, advanced automation infrastructure, and smart manufacturing technologies designed to improve efficiency and system reliability.

Industry analysts note that Europe’s transition toward renewable energy has significantly increased demand for battery storage technologies capable of balancing intermittent energy production from solar and wind power. Türkiye’s geographic location, manufacturing capabilities, and engineering expertise are helping domestic firms gain a stronger foothold in the European clean energy supply chain.

Energy storage investments have also gained momentum across Türkiye as both public and private sectors seek to improve energy security and support the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
