Turkiye hosted over 40 million tourists in 9 months

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that Turkiye hosted 40 million 246 thousand 899 visitors in the 9-month period of the year, with a total tourism income of $35 billion 28 million 540 thousand.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the total number of foreign visitors increased by 97.96% compared to the first 9 months of the previous year and became 34 million 810 thousand 273.

According to the 9-month data published by TUIK, the total number of visitors exceeded 40 million as of September, with 5 million 436 thousand 626 foreign residents visiting Turkiye. Turkiye earned $17 billion 952 million 361 thousand tourism income in the third quarter of the year. The revenue figure increased by 27.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. Turkiye’s tourism income in 9 months was $35 billion 28 million 540 thousand in total.

In the ranking of the countries sending the most visitors to Turkiye, in the first 9 months, Germany ranked first with a 99.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year and with 4 million 527 thousand 853 people, Russia with an increase of 11.8% and 3 million 864 thousand 898 people. The United Kingdom (United Kingdom) took the third place with an increase of 1952.9% and 2 million 817 thousand 271 people. Britain was followed by Bulgaria and Iran, respectively.

September increase was 55.84%

In September 2022, Turkiye hosted 5 million 475 thousand 453 foreign visitors with an increase of 55.84% compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the ranking of the countries sending the most visitors, in September, the Russian Federation was the first with 860 thousand 741 people, Germany was the second with 677 thousand 37 people, and the UK (United Kingdom) was the third with 456 thousand 867 people. Britain was followed by Bulgaria and Iran.
