Turkiye is actively preparing for the development and production of its own high-speed trains, intended for both domestic use and export, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This announcement was made at the TEKNOFEST Aerospace, Defense, and Technology Festival, where Selcuk Bayraktar, owner of Bayrak and chairman of the festival’s board of trustees, emphasized the significance of this project for the country’s future.
According to Mr. Bayraktar, the new technologies being developed by Turkish youth encompass a wide range of innovations in high-speed transportation.
From developing powerful engines to enhancing lifting systems these achievements will enable Turkiye to take a leading position in the international market.
He expressed hope that the country will soon begin producing its high-speed trains and exporting them to other countries.
The Turkish high-speed electric train project has already reached the final stages of development.
Turkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, stated that by July 2024, the design of the train, capable of reaching speeds up to 225 km/h, was nearly completed.
The eight-carriage train is expected to be operational by 2025. The production of the first prototype is in an active phase, and it is anticipated to be fully built by the end of this year.
This project is part of Turkiye’s extensive strategy to strengthen its position in the high-speed rail sector.
In recent years, the country has been working to reduce its dependence on imports and increase the share of domestic production in the technology sector.
The creation of its own high-class trains not only supports this strategy but also opens new prospects for economic growth and the strengthening of Turkiye’s technological sovereignty.
With the start of high-speed train production, Turkiye aims to make a significant contribution to the development of international rail transport.
The project is not only focused on meeting domestic needs but also on promoting Turkish technologies abroad.
This will allow the country to occupy an important place in the global rail transport network and enhance its influence in the world market.
Thus, Turkiye is confidently moving towards becoming a leading player in the production and export of high-speed trains.
Its ambitious plans for the development and implementation of advanced technologies open new horizons and opportunities for both domestic development and international cooperation.
