Turkiye: Passenger car exports exceeded $6.5 billion in 9 months

The Turkish automotive sector exported $6 billion 558 million 472 thousand of passenger cars in the January-September period.

According to the data of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB), automotive sector representatives sold passenger cars to 101 countries, autonomous regions and free zones in the January-September period.

In this period, the share of passenger cars in the exports of the automotive industry, which achieved $22 billion 325 million 73 thousand in foreign sales, was 29.37%.

European countries are the main export markets of the sector, and the largest passenger car export is to France. In the 9 months of the year, the export of automobile manufacturers to this country was $948 million 759 thousand.

In the same period of last year, $1 billion 115 million 911 thousand of passenger cars were sent to France, and there was a 19% decrease in passenger car exports.

9-month passenger car exports to England, which is in the second place of the list, increased by 35.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, from $592 million 405 thousand to $803 million 58 thousand.

A total of $1 billion 751 million 818 thousand of foreign sales made to France and the United Kingdom constituted 26.71% of passenger car exports.

9% increase in exports to Spain

Exports to Spain, which ranked third, increased by 9.12% compared to the same period of the previous year, from $582 million 196 thousand to $635 million 299 thousand.

In the January-September period, sector representatives exported $592 million 111 thousand to Italy in the fourth place and $538 million 113 thousand to Germany, which is in the fifth place.

Poland ranked sixth with $456 million 392 thousand, Slovenia ranked seventh with $302 million 386 thousand, Israel ranked eighth with $269 million 554 thousand, Belgium ninth with $199 million 443 thousand and Egypt tenth with $172 million 375 thousand.

European Union countries constituted 7 of the top 10 markets in passenger car export.

Vehicles were also sold to Algeria

The increase in the exports of passenger car manufacturers to some countries drew attention. In the same period of this year, $4 million 200 thousand of vehicles were sold to Algeria, where passenger cars were not exported in the January-September period of last year.

In the January-September period, sector representatives increased their exports to Turkmenistan by 2150% compared to the same period of the previous year, and increased exports to this country from $317 thousand to $7 million 137 thousand.

In this period, $6 million 967 thousand to Chile with an increase of 294%, $4 million 305 thousand to Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan with an increase of 204%, $3 million 702 thousand to Argentina with an increase of 539%, $3 million 631 thousand were exported to Albania with an increase of 501%, and $2 million 340 thousand of passenger cars were exported to the TRNC with an increase of 600%.
