“Urfa is the city with the most pistachio trees”

Sanliurfa Commodity Exchange Chairman Mehmet Kaya stated that Turkiye’s pistachio exports in the January-June period of this year increased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year. Kaya said:

“At this point, it is possible to analyze that the policies developed give good results, but of course, much larger numbers can be obtained from these lands where the pistachio first bears fruit. Urfa is the city with the most pistachio trees. In terms of yield, it takes the first place in every period. Considering the climatic conditions and global crises, the export rate we have achieved is pleasing for us. Undoubtedly, Turkiye will have a bigger place in the world market in terms of peanuts in the coming years.”

Pointing to the importance of the licensed warehouse, Kaya said, “We have prepared our peanut licensed warehouse project, like our licensed warehouses that we previously established focused on grain and cotton, in order to support the production and trade of peanuts in Urfa, the province with the highest production rate. Hopefully, with the activation of our peanut licensed warehouse in the upcoming period, our farmers and traders will show more interest in this field and accordingly, Turkiye will achieve greater success in exporting.”
