Turkish Fruit Juice Exports Set Sights on Surpassing $500 Million Mark

Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association President Hayrettin Ucak said that Turkiye aims to exceed $500 million in fruit juice exports this year.

In his written statement, Ucak noted that 27 million tons of fruit are produced in Turkiye, and 10% of the annual fruit production is processed by the fruit juice industry.

Stating that $74 million worth of fruit juice was exported in the January-February period last year, Ucak stated that exports increased by 27% to $94 million in the first two months of 2024.

Ucak stated that there is a predominantly consumption of peach, apricot, sour cherry and orange juices in the domestic market and said:

“Half of Turkiye’s concentrate (semi-finished) exports come from apple juice concentrate. Pomegranate and black carrot concentrate are among Turkiye’s highly competitive products in exports. Our fruit juice industry has the potential to grow both in exports and in the domestic market. The export target of the sector in 2024 is to exceed $500 million. We predict that Turkiye’s foreign exchange earnings from fruit juice exports will reach $1 billion in 2028.”

In Turkiye’s fruit juice exports of $452 million in 2023, the USA was the leading market with exports of $196 million. The Netherlands came in second with a demand of $36.5 million, and Italy came in third with fruit juice exports of $22 million.
