Turkiye: Exports of $7 billion 983 billion from the furniture, paper and forest products sector

The furniture, paper and forest products sector exported $7 billion 983 million in 2023.

According to the statement of the Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters Association, within the scope of TIM data, total exports in 2023 reached $255 billion 809 million, an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous year.

The furniture, paper and forest products sector, which resisted the difficulties in exports and continued to produce despite the inflation wave in the global economy, order pauses in Europe and the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, achieved exports of $675 million in December, and reached exports of $7 billion 983 million in all of 2023.

Erkan Ozkan, President of the Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, whose views were included in the statement, said:

“Last year was quite challenging not only for us but for all sectors. We encountered many difficulties in both production and exports. However, we managed to overcome the difficulties with our dynamic structure and increasing production volume. During this period, earthquakes, tensions in our neighboring countries and fluctuations in the global economy put us under more pressure than they should have. However, as a sector, we have tried to maintain our market share in the international arena through both fairs and country visits. Despite the difficulties we experienced, we tried to complete 2023 in the most efficient way, and now we are focusing on 2024. We will strive to increase our exports by participating in international fairs and various organizations throughout the year with our sector representatives. Our country visits will continue in 2024. We will prepare the ground for our producers to find opportunities for new collaborations in the countries we visit.”
