Türkiye Ranks Eighth Globally in Glassware Exports, Minister Bolat Says

ISTANBUL — Türkiye ranks eighth in the world in glassware exports, while producing around 3% of global glassware output, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said.

Speaking at the opening of the 36th International ZUCHEX Home and Kitchenware Fair at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul, Bolat said Türkiye has become one of the leading countries in the global home and kitchenware industry.

$5.8 billion in sector exports

Bolat said Türkiye’s home and kitchenware sector recorded $5.8 billion in exports in 2025. Of this total, $3.1 billion came from home and kitchenware products, while the remainder consisted of industrial kitchen equipment.

The sector imported $3.2 billion worth of goods, resulting in a net foreign trade surplus of $2.6 billion, according to Bolat.

“Türkiye is a country that holds a significant share of the kitchenware market globally, alongside China,” Bolat said, highlighting the country’s broad manufacturing capabilities.

Türkiye among the world’s leading exporters

Bolat said Türkiye ranks 10th globally in ceramic exports, while the country is the world’s fifth-largest exporter of plastic household and kitchenware, with a 2.7% global share.

Türkiye ranks sixth in exports of iron and steel tableware and kitchenware, with a 2.1% share, and seventh in aluminum tableware and kitchenware exports.

The country has also ranked third globally in electric cooking and heating equipment for the past 13 years, behind China and Germany, while ranking second in Europe after Germany.

ZUCHEX attracts 130,000 visitors

Bolat said the ZUCHEX fair has become a major international brand in Europe. The 2026 event brings together 1,500 brands across 12 halls, with around 130,000 domestic and international visitors expected to attend across a 100,000-square-meter exhibition area.

He said Türkiye’s exhibition industry has an economic value of approximately €7.5 billion and contributes around €4 billion directly to gross domestic product.

Government targets $410 billion in exports

Bolat also highlighted government support for the home and kitchenware industry, noting that 45 international trade fairs in 20 countries have been included in the ministry’s support programs this year.

Despite the pandemic, the energy crisis and regional wars since 2020, Türkiye’s economy has continued to grow, Bolat said.

He added that the government is working with the business community to reach its $410 billion target for goods and services exports by the end of 2026.
