Turkiye: Record exports from the industrial sector

Turkiye’s industrial exports reached the highest January-June export of all time with $94 billion 180 million. 12 out of 16 industries affiliated to the industry group broke export records.

Despite the concerns that the economic activity will be adversely affected by the recession in the global markets and the predictions that global growth will be adversely affected by the initiation of the tightening process in monetary policies by the central banks, the Turkish industrial sector continues to deliver its products to all over the world.

Turkiye’s industrial exports reached the highest January-June export of all time with $94 billion 180 million. The foreign sales of the industrial sector increased by 19% in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

The share of Turkiye’s industrial exports in total exports was 74.8%.

Exports of chemicals and products exceeded $16.5 billion

12 out of 16 industries affiliated to the industry group broke export records.

Textile and raw materials reached the highest January-June export figures of all time with $5 billion 391 million, leather and leather products with $978 million 608 thousand, chemicals and products with $16 billion 748 million, ready-made clothing and apparel with $10 billion 795 million, electricity and electronics $7 billion 343 million, machinery and parts $4 billion 968 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals $7 billion 817 million, steel industry $11 billion 896 million, cement glass ceramics and earthenware $2 billion 830 million, jewelry $2 billion 697 million, defense and aerospace industry $1 billion 984 million and air conditioning industry $3 billion 363 million.

In the 6 months of the year, exports increased by 10.9% in textiles and raw materials, 23.5% in leather and leather products, 39.8% in chemicals and products, 14.5% in ready-to-wear and apparel, and 6.9% in electricity and electronics. Exports increased by 10.4% in machinery and its parts, 37.6% in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, 30% in the steel industry, 27.3% in cement, glass ceramics and soil products, 9% in the jewelry industry, 47.9% in the defense and aviation industry, and 11.7% in the air conditioning industry.

Most demands came from Europe

The highest demand for the sectors that broke the export record within the industry came from European countries.

In the first half of the year, leather and leather products sold to Germany amounted to $84 million 606 thousand, ready-made clothing and apparel $1 billion 884 million, machinery and accessories $503 million 648 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals $1 billion 126 million. The air conditioning industry made foreign sales of $356 million 46 thousand.

During this period, cement, glass, ceramics and earthenware exports to the USA amounted to $480 million 934 thousand, and the jewelery industry exported $505 million 742 thousand.

Textile and raw materials sold $567 million 589 thousand to Italy, chemicals and products to the Netherlands $1 billion 184 million, to the United Kingdom $801 million 402 thousand for the electricity and electronics sector, $872 million 321 thousand for the steel industry to Israel.
