Türkiye resumed purchases of U.S. Treasury securities in June after three consecutive months of selling, according to data compiled by ForInvest Haber from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
In June, Türkiye bought $648 million worth of U.S. Treasuries, raising its total holdings to $7.691 billion. Of this amount, $5.525 billion consisted of long-term securities, while $2.166 billion were short-term.
At the end of February, Türkiye’s holdings of U.S. Treasuries had reached a record high of $20.471 billion. However, in the following three months, the country reduced its portfolio by $13.428 billion, bringing holdings down to $7.043 billion as of May. The June purchases signal a reversal of that downward trend.
