Turkiye’s automotive production exceeded 1 million units

Total automotive production increased by 12% in the 9 months of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 74 thousand 155, and automobile production increased by 21% to 687 thousand 817.

Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced production, export and market data for the January-September period.

Accordingly, in the 9-month period of the year, total automotive production increased by 12% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 74 thousand 155. Automobile production increased by 21% to 687 thousand 817.

Total production, including tractor production, reached 1 million 117 thousand 620. In the 9-month period of the year, commercial vehicle production decreased by 1% and light commercial vehicle group production decreased by 4% compared to the same period last year. In the heavy commercial vehicle group, production increased by 26%.

Exports increased by 16% and reached $26.2 billion

In the 9-month period of the year, automotive exports increased by 7% in terms of units compared to the same period last year, reaching 733 thousand 956.

During this period, automobile exports increased by 20% compared to the same period last year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 11%. Tractor exports increased by 9% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 14 thousand 462.

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained its top place in the sectoral export rankings with 16% in the 9-month period of this year.

According to Uludag Exporters Association data, total automotive exports in the said period increased by 16% compared to the same period of 2022, reaching $26.2 billion.

Total sales in the 9 months of the year increased by 63% compared to the same period last year, reaching 894 thousand 663. During this period, the automobile market grew by 67% with 666 thousand 890 units.

When we look at the commercial vehicle market, in the 9 months of the year, there was a growth of 51% in the total commercial vehicle market, 28% in the heavy commercial vehicle market and 57% in the light commercial vehicle market, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the said period, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 31%, and the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 48%, compared to the same period last year.
