As the world leader in raisin production and export, Turkiye’s seedless raisin export amounted to 252 thousand 354 tons in the 2021-2022 season.
According to the statement made by Aegean Exporters’ Associations, seedless raisin exports in the 2021-2022 season reached 99 countries.
Turkiye exported 252 thousand 354 tons of raisins in the period covering the period of September 1, 2021-August 31, 2022, providing an increase of 13% on a quantity basis compared to the previous season.
Exports increased by 3% on the basis of value and amounted to $441 million 862 thousand.
Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association President Mehmet Ali Isik, whose views are included in the statement, stated that Turkiye alone meets 22% of the worldwide production of 1 million 301 thousand tons with a yield of approximately 290 thousand tons in the 2021-2022 season.
Stating that seedless raisins are the first export product in product-based export revenue in the Aegean Region, Isik said, “Our sector earns an average of $450 million in foreign currency inflows every year. This year, we exceeded our export target of 200 thousand tons by 25%. 33% of the world’s exports of seedless raisins are made by our country. We exported $345 million to the European continent, which is our main trade partner, with a share of 80%. We left behind a satisfactory season for producers and exporters, and we expect a yield of over 300 thousand tons in the 2022-2023 season.”
Dried apricot exports reached $375 million
In the statement, it was also noted that Turkiye exported a total of 80,763 tons of dried apricots from August 1, 2021 to July 30, 2022, leaving behind the 2021-2022 season with an increase of 29% and $375 million.
It was stated that dried apricots found buyers in 115 countries, and dried apricot exports to the European continent reached $154 million with an increase of 21%.
