Turkiye: The assets of the banking sector were ₺12.3 trillion in July

According to the data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the total asset size of the Turkish banking sector increased by 33.5% as of July compared to the end of 2021, reaching ₺12 trillion 304 billion.

The “Unconsolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector” report for the period of July 2022 was published by the BRSA.

According to the report, the asset size of the banking sector in July was ₺12 trillion 304 billion 480 million. While the total assets of the sector increased by ₺3 trillion 89 billion 18 million compared to the end of 2021, the proportional equivalent of this was 33.5%.

Compared to the end of 2021 in July, loans, the largest asset item of the sector, increased by 32.9% to ₺6 trillion 511 billion 631 million, and the total securities increased by 38.0% to ₺2 trillion 37 billion 307 million. In this period, the NPL ratio of loans stood at 2.42%.

Deposits, which are the largest source of funds among banks’ resources, increased by 40.6% in July compared to the end of 2021 and rose to ₺7 trillion 457 billion 718 million.

In the same period, the total equity reached ₺1 trillion 48 billion 288 million with an increase of 46.8%. As of the end of July, the sector’s net profit for the period was ₺207 billion 860 million, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 18.02%.
