Turkiye: The chemical industry realized an export of $2.3 billion with an increase of 7.7% in January

According to the IKMIB statement, according to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkiye’s exports increased by 10.4% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $19.4 billion.

According to the statement made by the Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), Turkiye’s exports increased by 10.4% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $19.4 billion, according to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

The chemical industry, on the other hand, realized an export of $2.3 billion with an increase of 7.7% last month. Having completed 2022 as the export champion, the sector continues its target of being the leader this year as well.

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IKMIB, whose views were included in the statement, stated that the chemical industry achieved a rapid growth after the pandemic and reached the top in 2022 and became the export champion for the first time.

Pelister stated that while the exports of chemicals and products grew by 4.2% on quantity basis, the export value of the sector exceeded the 1 dollar limit and increased to $1.16 with an increase of 27%.

“We got a share of 13,2% from the country’s exports. We achieved $2.3 billion in exports with an increase of 7,7% in January this year. There are expectations of a slowdown and contraction in global growth this year. We foresee that the stagnation that started in the last quarter of 2022 in the EU and the USA will continue into the first half of 2023. In terms of our chemical industry, there may be a slowdown in both domestic and foreign markets in the first half of 2023, but I believe that the second half of the year will be more positive.

As IKMIB, we will organize 21 national fairs, 6 info stands and 6 trade delegations in 21 countries this year in order to support our member exporters. On 24-27 January, we attended Ruplastica/Upakexpo/Recycling Solutions fair info stand in Russia, Arab Health 2023 exhibition national participation in the United Arab Emirates on January 30-February 2 and NAHB IBS 2023 Fair info stand participation in Las Vegas, USA. We will have 7 different events in February, including national participation in the fair, trade delegation, and info stand participation. We will continue to work non-stop to increase our exports steadily.”
