Turkiye: The loan volume of banks reached ₺6.2 trillion

The loan volume of the banking sector increased by ₺32 billion 236 million last week to ₺6 trillion 628 billion 190 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the loan volume of the sector increased by ₺32 billion 236 million as of August 26. In the said period, the total loan volume increased from ₺6 trillion 595 billion 954 million to ₺6 trillion 628 billion 190 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) decreased by ₺37 billion 155 million last week. The total deposits of the banking sector, which decreased by 0.5% in the week in question, became ₺7 trillion 782 billion 331 million.

Consumer loans decreased to ₺940 billion

According to the data, the amount of consumer loans increased by ₺5 billion 544 million as of August 26 to ₺940 billion 333 million. ₺353 billion 402 million of the said loans consisted of housing loans, ₺27 billion 880 million for vehicles and ₺559 billion 52 million for consumer loans.

In the said period, the amount of installment commercial loans increased by ₺9 billion 991 million and rose to ₺872 billion 967 million. Banks’ personal credit card receivables increased by 3.6% to ₺315 billion 571 million. ₺138 billion 537 million of the personal credit card receivables were in installments, and ₺177 billion 34 million were without installments.

Legal equity increased

According to the BRSA weekly data, NPLs in the banking sector increased by ₺907 million compared to the previous week and reached ₺163 billion 218 million as of August 26. A special provision has been set aside for ₺133 billion 164 million of the aforementioned non-performing loans.

In the same period, legal equities of the banking system increased by ₺16 billion 244 million and reached ₺1 trillion 357 billion 102 million.
