Turkiye: The loan volume of banks reached ₺6.8 trillion

The loan volume of the banking sector increased by ₺41.6 billion to ₺6.8 trillion last week.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the loan volume of the sector increased by ₺41 billion 634 million as of October 14. In the said period, the total loan volume increased from ₺6 trillion 845 billion 992 million to ₺6 trillion 887 billion 625 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺96 billion 901 million last week. The total deposits of the banking sector, which rose 1.2% in the week in question, became ₺8 trillion 292 billion 649 million.

The amount of consumer loans exceeded ₺976 billion

According to the data, the amount of consumer loans increased by ₺8 billion 967 million as of October 14 to ₺976 billion 195 million. ₺355 billion 290 million of the said loans consisted of housing loans, ₺32 billion 785 million for vehicles and ₺588 billion 120 million for consumer loans.

In the said period, the amount of commercial loans with installments decreased by ₺558 million to ₺886 billion 567 million. Banks’ individual credit card receivables, on the other hand, increased by 1.9% to ₺353 billion 816 million. ₺159 billion 820 million of individual credit card receivables were in installments and ₺193 billion 996 million were without installments.

Legal equity increased

According to the BRSA weekly data, NPLs in the banking sector increased by ₺182 million compared to the previous week and reached ₺161 billion 82 million as of October 14. A special provision has been set aside for ₺134 billion 123 million of the non-performing loans.

In the same period, legal equities of the banking system increased by ₺2 billion 826 million and reached ₺1 trillion 457 billion 531 million.
