Housing Price Index increased by 5.5% in August in Turkiye

The House Price Index (HPI) reached 1043 in August, with a monthly increase of 5.5% and an annual increase of 90.3%.

Housing Price Index data for the period of August 2023 was announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye.

HPI (2017=100), which is calculated to monitor price changes excluding the quality effect of houses in Turkiye, increased by 5.5% compared to the previous month and reached 1043 in August.

While HPI increased by 90.3% on an annual basis in August, the real increase in this period was 21.9%.

Looking at the HPI change for three major provinces, an increase of 5.4%, 5.2% and 5.5% was seen in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, respectively, in August compared to the previous month.

Index values increased to 78.4% in Istanbul, 100.4% in Ankara and 90.3% in Izmir compared to the same month last year.
