Turkiye’s Agricultural Input Price Index Rises by 1.72% in April, Up 52.2% Year-on-Year

Turkiye’s Agricultural Input Price Index (Agricultural-GFE) showed a monthly increase of 1.72% in April, marking a significant annual rise of 52.2%, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The index rose by 1.72% compared to the previous month, by 14.61% compared to December of last year, and by 52.2% compared to the same month last year, maintaining a 12-month average increase of 39.08%.

In the main groups, there was a 1.7% increase in goods and services used in agriculture, and a 1.87% increase in goods and services contributing to agricultural investment compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same month last year, goods and services used in agriculture increased by 49.13%, while those contributing to agricultural investment saw a 73.7% rise.

Subgroups

According to the annual Agricultural-GFE, 4 subgroups showed lower changes while 7 showed higher changes.

The subgroups with the lowest annual increases were agricultural chemicals at 23.76% and fertilizers and soil improvers at 26.92%. In contrast, veterinary expenses saw the highest annual increase at 143.26%, followed by other goods and services at 89.95%.

Based on the monthly Agricultural-GFE, 6 subgroups showed lower changes while 5 showed higher changes.

The subgroups with the highest monthly increases were building maintenance expenses at 7.73% and seeds and planting materials at 5.35%, while fertilizers and soil improvers saw the highest decrease at -0.23%, followed by veterinary expenses at -0.02%.
