Turkiye’s BIST 100 index down at Monday’s open

BIST 100 index decreases over 8 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,982.19 points on Monday, down 8.56 points, or 0.43%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index fell 1.61% to close at 1,990.75 points on Friday, with a daily trading volume of 28.9 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 14.29 as of 10.08 a.m. local time (0708GMT) for a 0.35% daily increase.

The euro/lira exchange rate was up 0.33% to 15.52 at the time, while a British pound traded for 18.89 Turkish liras up 0.7%.

The price of international oil benchmark Brent crude oil soared 8.8% to $128.5 per barrel at the time amid the US and its allies exploring options for a coordinated embargo on Russian crude oil due to Moscow’s war on Ukraine.
