Turkiye’s Borsa Istanbul down at Friday close

BIST 100 loses more than 32 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Friday at 1,990.75 points, down 1.61% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,013.91 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 32.54 points from Thursday’s close of 2,023.29 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,990.75 points, while its daily high was 2,024.07.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.58 trillion Turkish liras ($112.1 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.9 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

During the last transaction day of the week, 29 stocks on the index rose, 68 fell, and three remained unchanged compared to Thursday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producers Kardemir and Eregli, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Conglomerate Verusa Holding was the best performer of the day with its shares up 9.92%, while telecommunications firm Turkcell saw the biggest drop 5.05%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,947.75 by market close, up from 1,922 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $115.6 per barrel with a 4.6% gain as of 6.23 p.m. local time (1523GMT).
