Turkiye’s Chemical Sector Boosts Exports by 19% in July

With a Record-Breaking $22.5 Billion in Total Exports, the Chemical Industry Contributes $2.6 Billion, Marking a Notable Increase Over Last Year.

In July 2024, Turkiye’s chemical sector achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second highest exporter in the country, generating $2.6 billion in export revenue. This represents a substantial 19.4% increase compared to the same period last year. According to the Istanbul Chemical Products and Goods Exporters’ Association (IKMIB) and data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s total exports reached a record-breaking $22.5 billion in July, marking a 13.8% rise from the previous year.

Adil Pelister, Chairman of IKMIB, commented on the sector’s performance, stating, “In July, the chemical sector maintained its position as the second largest exporter among all sectors, with $2.6 billion in exports. We have achieved a remarkable growth rate of over 19% compared to last year. Our cumulative exports for the first seven months have reached $18.4 billion. We are committed to sustaining this growth momentum and continuing our efforts to enhance export performance in the coming months.”

The chemical sector’s robust performance underscores its vital role in Turkiye’s export landscape, reflecting both the industry’s resilience and its capacity to drive significant economic contributions.
