ANKARA — Türkiye’s Presidency’s Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation (DMM) has rejected claims circulating on social media that defense electronics company ASELSAN is being prepared for sale, describing the allegations as false and intended to mislead the public.
In a statement, the DMM said reports alleging that the government plans to sell ASELSAN or transfer ownership of the company to foreign investors have “no basis in fact.” The center emphasized that ASELSAN remains one of Türkiye’s strategic defense industry companies and that no decision or initiative regarding its sale is on the government’s agenda.
The DMM urged the public not to rely on unverified claims circulated through social media and certain online platforms, warning that such disinformation could undermine confidence in Türkiye’s defense industry and capital markets. The agency said legal action may be taken against those who deliberately spread false information.
ASELSAN, Türkiye’s largest defense electronics manufacturer, is majority-owned by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, while approximately one-quarter of its shares are publicly traded on Borsa Istanbul. The company is required to disclose any material corporate developments through the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), and no announcement regarding a sale or change in ownership has been made.
The denial comes amid renewed online speculation over the company’s ownership, echoing similar unfounded claims that surfaced in previous years and were likewise rejected by both government officials and ASELSAN.
