ISTANBUL — Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade generated more than TRY 2.7 billion in revenue through its electronic auction system during the first half of 2026, as thousands of confiscated or liquidated goods and vehicles were brought back into the economy.
According to a statement from the Ministry, 6,826 auctions were successfully completed through the e-auction platform in the first six months of the year. Revenue from the sales increased by 5% compared with the same period last year.
The auctions enabled the sale of 1,477 vehicles and 5,349 items, including commercial and passenger vehicles, textiles, electronics, cosmetics, furniture, food products and jewelry.
More than 1.4 million registered users
The Ministry’s e-auction platform, which has operated electronically since 2014 and was upgraded in March 2021, now has more than 1.4 million registered users.
Individuals and legal entities can access the system through Türkiye’s e-Government portal, the mobile application or the e-auction website. Registration is free, while membership, bidding and payments can all be completed online.
The Ministry said the system is designed to provide a transparent, secure and competitive auction environment, allowing participants to view detailed product photographs, vehicle videos and independent appraisal reports.
Auction process and requirements
Auction announcements are published on the system for three business days, followed by a three-business-day period during which bids are collected electronically.
The starting price is set at 75% of the sale value for vehicles and 50% for goods, based on their customs-cleared value. Participants must provide a deposit equivalent to 10% of the sale price to submit a bid.
The highest bidder wins the auction. If a bid reaches at least 75% of the reference sale price, the sale can be finalized directly. Lower bids are reviewed by the relevant operating directorate, which may approve the sale or reopen the auction.
Successful bidders must pay the auction price within seven days and collect their purchases within 10 days.
The Ministry also emphasized that its personnel and their first-degree relatives are prohibited from participating in the auctions in line with principles of impartiality and transparency.
