With ambitions to hit $6.8 billion in trade volume by 2030, Turkiye’s footwear sector eyes substantial growth in global markets.
Turkiye’s footwear industry has achieved significant progress in 2024, exporting shoes worth $588.7 million in the first six months. According to a compilation by AA, the global leather and leather goods production industry, including footwear, is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 6.2%, surpassing $490.2 billion by 2027.
The global footwear market, estimated to be worth $424 billion as of 2022, continues to offer robust opportunities. The Turkish footwear sector, currently the world’s sixth-largest producer, is targeting a trade volume of $6.8 billion by 2030.
In the first half of 2024, Turkiye’s footwear imports totaled $760.7 million, bringing the sector’s foreign trade volume to $1.3 billion. Saudi Arabia led the way as the top importer of Turkish shoes, purchasing $76.8 million worth of products, followed by Iraq, Germany, Russia, and Italy.
In 2023, Turkiye exported $1.2 billion worth of footwear, with Russia being the largest buyer at $139.1 million. The sector’s trade volume for that year was recorded at $2.4 billion.
