Honey Exports See 3% Increase with Strong Demand from the US, Germany, and Canada
Turkiye’s honey exports reached $17,243,866 in the first half of 2024, marking a 3% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency (AA) from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKIB). Honey, a significant production and export item for Turkiye, found buyers in 45 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones from January to June.
In the first half of 2023, honey exports were valued at $16,791,320. This year, the figure rose by 3%, reaching $17,243,866.
The top three countries importing Turkish honey in the first half of the year were the United States, Germany, and Canada. During this period, Turkiye exported $6,322,272 worth of honey to the US, $4,479,615 to Germany, and $812,664 to Canada.
Additionally, Turkiye expanded its honey export market to new countries including Slovenia, Hungary, Iraq, Bangladesh, Czechia, Morocco, Albania, and Nepal.honey exports
Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the DKİB Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of sustainability in honey exports. “We are hopeful that honey exports will continue to trend upwards until the end of the year, supported by improvements in global markets,” Kalyoncu told AA.
