ANKARA — Türkiye recorded an increase in both hotel visitor numbers and overnight stays in March, signaling continued strength in the country’s tourism and hospitality sector ahead of the peak summer season.
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of visitors staying in accommodation facilities licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism rose compared with the same month last year. Overnight stays also posted annual growth, reflecting sustained domestic and international tourism demand.
The figures showed that both foreign and domestic travelers contributed to the increase in hotel occupancy across the country. Tourism officials noted that the rise in overnight stays indicates longer average visitor durations and stronger activity in the hospitality industry.
Industry representatives said the upward trend was supported by Türkiye’s competitive tourism pricing, expanding flight connectivity, and strong demand from European, Middle Eastern, and Russian markets.
March data also pointed to improving occupancy rates in coastal destinations and major metropolitan areas, particularly in Istanbul, Antalya, and the Aegean tourism region, as early-season travel activity accelerated.
Tourism analysts expect the positive momentum to continue into the summer months, supported by new hotel investments and international tourism campaigns aimed at attracting higher-spending visitors. Türkiye has recently seen several global hotel groups expand their presence in the country, highlighting confidence in long-term tourism growth.
