Turkiye’s Industrial Production Index Declines in April

Monthly Production Drops 4.9% with Manufacturing Sector Leading the Downturn

Turkiye’s industrial production index saw a decline in April, with a monthly decrease of 4.9% and an annual decrease of 0.7%, according to the latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

An analysis of the industrial sub-sectors reveals a mixed performance. The mining and quarrying sector index experienced a notable annual increase of 12.2%, while the manufacturing sector index fell by 1.5%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector index rose by 1.6%.

On a monthly basis, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 1.3%, the manufacturing sector index dropped by 5.3%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector index saw a 2.7% decline.

These results highlight the varied dynamics within Turkiye’s industrial sectors, with significant monthly contractions particularly in manufacturing, pointing to potential challenges ahead for the industry.
