Turkiye continues to introduce its space and aviation studies to the world

At the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Paris, the capital of France, a stand promoting Turkiye’s work in the fields of space and aviation was set up.

From around the world to IAC, which started today in Paris and will continue until September 22, many countries such as Turkiye, Germany, Japan, Russia and China, as well as more than 400 space and aviation organizations such as the US Aviation and Space Agency (NASA), European Space Agency (ESA), SpaceX, Airbus, are participating with their own stands.

On the first day of the congress, the delegation consisting of Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Turkiye’s Paris Ambassador Ali Onaner, AK Party Ankara Deputy Zeynep Yildiz and Turkish Space Agency (TUA) President Serdar Huseyin Yildirim visited the Turkiye stand.

Turkiye’s booth includes organizations such as TUA, TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute (UZAY), Turksat, Gokmen Aerospace Training Center (GUHEM), Delta V, Plan S and Hello Space, as well as the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).

While the opening sessions of the IAC, attended by deputies and politicians from different countries, were held yesterday, Kacir made a speech in support of Turkiye’s candidacy for the International Astronautical Congress to be held in Istanbul in 2025.

TURKIYE IS A CANDIDATE TO ORGANIZE THE CONGRESS IN 2025

In addition to Turkiye, nominated by TUA, for the International Astronautical Congress to be held in Istanbul in 2025, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China and Thailand are among the candidate countries.

According to the information given by TUA to AA, if its candidacy is accepted, Turkiye will host more than 20 thousand participants with the congress in 2025 and host the world’s largest space and aviation organization.

In addition, if the congress takes place in Turkiye in 2025, important steps will be taken for the objectives of “Developing the Space Industry Ecosystem” and “Developing Space Awareness and Human Resources”, which are also included in the National Space Program.

The Turkish delegation, which participated in the congress held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates last year, met with 34 different space and aviation institutions and signed 2 cooperation agreements.
