ANKARA — Türkiye’s natural gas imports declined sharply in February, falling 19.34% year-on-year to approximately 5.26 billion cubic meters, according to official data.
The figures, based on the February Natural Gas Market Sector Report by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, indicate a notable drop compared to the same period last year.
Breakdown of Imports
Of the total imports:
- Around 2.32 billion cubic meters were delivered via pipelines
- Approximately 2.94 billion cubic meters were supplied as liquefied natural gas (LNG)
This distribution highlights Türkiye’s continued reliance on a mix of pipeline gas and LNG to meet domestic demand.
Key Suppliers
Russia remained the leading supplier of pipeline gas, while the United States stood out as a major LNG provider.
Türkiye also continues to source gas from countries such as Iran and Azerbaijan, maintaining a diversified import structure.
