Turkiye’s tourism income increased by 190.2% in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $8 billion 717 million.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the tourism statistics for the April-June period of this year.

According to this, tourism income is the second half of April, May and June. increased by 190.2% in the quarter compared to the same quarter of the previous year and became $8 billion 717 million 103 thousand. 83.8% of tourism income (excluding mobile phone roaming and marina service expenses) was obtained from foreign visitors and 16.2% from citizen visitors residing abroad.

Visitors organize their travels with personal or package tours. Personal expenditures constituted $6 billion 273 million 64 thousand of the expenditures made in this quarter, and package tour expenditures constituted $2 billion 444 million 39 thousand.

All types of spending increased in this quarter compared to the same quarter of last year. While sports, education and culture expenditures increased by 456.1%, package tour expenditures (the remaining share in our country) increased by 331.3% and accommodation expenditures increased by 185.6%.

The average spend per night was $78

The average nightly expenditure of foreigners staying overnight in this quarter was $81, while the average nightly expenditure of citizens residing abroad was $65.

The number of visitors increased by 193.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

“Visiting relatives and friends” took the second place with 14.8%, and “shopping” took the third place with 6.7%. Citizens residing abroad, on the other hand, came to our country mostly for the purpose of “visiting relatives and friends” with 57.9%.

Tourism expenditure increased by 215.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year

Tourism expenditure, which consists of the expenditures of our citizens residing in the country and visiting other countries, increased by 215.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and became $1 billion 57 million 787 thousand. $1 billion 11 million 504 thousand of this was personal and $46 million 283 thousand was package tour expenses.

Citizens visiting abroad increased by 321.6% compared to the second quarter of 2021

The number of citizens visiting abroad in this quarter increased by 321.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached 1 million 666 thousand 135 people. Their average expenditure per person was $635.
