Prices and sales of second-hand cars increased

In the second-hand online passenger and light commercial vehicle market, sales increased by 29% in April compared to the previous month, and vehicle prices increased by 4% on average.

In the second-hand online passenger and light commercial vehicle market in Turkey, 191,401 sales were realized last month (when the vehicles that have been completely removed from the advertisement are considered sold).

Compared to March, sales increased by 29%, compared to April of last year by 34% and when the average of the last 3 years is considered, an increase of 39% was recorded.

More than half of the cars advertised have been sold

Last month, the share of passenger cars in second-hand online sales was 82%, and the share of light commercial vehicles was 18%.

The number of vehicles advertised in the second-hand online passenger and light commercial market decreased by 325 thousand 312 in April compared to March. 59% of the vehicles advertised were sold.

Prices increased

According to the analysis made by examining the price changes of 123 thousand 800 advertisements in the 2010-2021 model years of 2 thousand 543 variants belonging to the 258 models of the first 32 brands with the highest sales in the second-hand market, in April, an average of 4% increase was observed in the second-hand online passenger and light commercial vehicle market compared to the previous month.

Diesel cars are in the first place

When Turkey’s second-hand online passenger and light commercial market is evaluated by engine type, diesel cars had the highest share in April with 115,533 sales and a share of 60.4%.

Diesel cars were followed by gasoline with 69,927 sales and a share of 36.5%, and hybrid cars with a sales of 3 thousand 656 and a share of 1.9%.

The share of autogas cars was 0.9% with 1,702 sales, and the share of electric cars was 0.3% with 583 sales.

C segments were sold the most

Last month, mostly C segment vehicles were sold with 64 thousand 70 units. After the C segment, the highest sales were realized in the B segment with 34 thousand 900 units.

Vehicles between the ages of 0 and 4 had the highest share of sales in the second-hand online passenger and light commercial vehicle market, with 37.5%. Then, vehicles between the ages of 5 and 10 with a share of 33.7% and vehicles over the age of 11-17 with a share of 28.9% were listed.

Mileage preferences in sales

Looking at the mileage breakdown of the vehicles sold, the highest share of sales was 64%, with vehicles at 90 thousand kilometers.

This was followed by cars in the 0-30 thousand kilometers band with a 16% share, 60-90 thousand kilometers with a 10% share, and 30-60 thousand kilometers with a 10% share.

The highest sales were in Istanbul

When we look at the provinces last month, the highest second-hand automotive sales were realized in Istanbul with a 28% share and 53 thousand 444 sales.

Ankara was followed by Ankara with 8% share and 15 thousand 193 sales, and Izmir with 10 thousand 555 sales and 6% share.
