Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) and ASPILSAN Energy have signed an agreement for the development and production of an aviation battery cell. The agreement, part of the Defense Industry Agency’s (SSB) Industrial Participation Offset Support Program, aims to increase the domestic production rate of aviation batteries in Türkiye.
Boosting Türkiye’s Aviation Battery Industry
According to a written statement from ASPILSAN Energy, this agreement will contribute to Türkiye’s efforts to localize its aviation and defense industries. The domestically developed battery cells will be used in air platforms, critical defense projects, and aerospace initiatives.
The partnership also aims to reduce Türkiye’s dependence on foreign battery technologies, strengthening the country’s competitive edge in energy storage solutions for aviation, defense, and space industries.
‘A Major Contribution to Türkiye’s Independent Production Capability’
President of the Defense Industry Agency, Haluk Görgün, emphasized the importance of increasing the domestic and national production capacity of the defense industry. He highlighted that the agreement would help strengthen the supply chain and enhance competitiveness in the sector.
Görgün stated, “With the Industrial Participation Offset Support, a strategic collaboration has been established between two key defense industry companies, TUSAS and ASPILSAN Energy, for the development and production of aviation battery cells. This partnership will accelerate the development of domestic and national technologies in the defense industry, making a significant contribution to Türkiye’s independent production power and global competitiveness.”
