du has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei to advance 5G-Advanced (5G-A) Phase-2 technology and enable 10Gbps-class connectivity experiences for customers across the United Arab Emirates.
The partnership aims to transform du’s wireless network infrastructure to support ultra-broadband capabilities capable of delivering 10 Gbps peak speeds in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Central to the initiative is the rollout of U6G technology, which supports ultra-large bandwidth aggregation and helps establish the infrastructure for future connectivity experiences.
As part of the initiative, du will deploy advanced indoor digitalization systems combining existing TDD 3CC capabilities with U6G and next-generation indoor solutions.
These systems will create premium 10Gbps experience zones across major venues in the UAE, including shopping malls, hotels, exhibition centers, airports, and other landmark destinations.
The approach aims to deliver seamless high-speed connectivity with consistent performance regardless of whether customers are indoors or outdoors. It will also involve enhancements across spectrum strategy, radio access network development, transmission systems, and 5G standalone core infrastructure.
The upgraded network capabilities are expected to open new revenue opportunities through differentiated service offerings, including tiered speed packages, enhanced uplink solutions, and premium connectivity plans tailored to specific customer requirements.
The companies will also explore new market opportunities enabled by 5G-A technology, particularly in sectors such as the low-altitude economy and autonomous mobility, including robotaxi services.
These applications require ultra-high bandwidth, low latency, and highly reliable connectivity for real-time data transmission and processing.
Li Jie, President of Huawei Wireless Network TDD Product Line, commented that, “Huawei is honored to deepen our long-term partnership with du. Together, we will advance 5G-A Phase-2 innovation, strengthen intelligent network capabilities, and explore new business models enabled by 10 Gbps-class connectivity.”
Focus on AI-driven network intelligence
Network intelligence will play a central role in the collaboration, with both companies integrating AI-driven optimization and autonomous operations to improve spectrum efficiency, enhance service quality, and increase operational performance.
The partnership will also prioritize energy-efficient technologies and intelligent power management systems to support sustainable network development while reducing operational energy consumption.
The agreement represents another milestone in the long-standing partnership between du and Huawei as they work to advance the next generation of 5G-Advanced networks and establish new benchmarks for telecommunications innovation in the UAE and the wider region.
