UAE: The Rarest Of Rare Mercedes-AMG G63 SUVs Comes Out Of Hiding

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has a deep and meaningful history with AMG, with a number of unique examples created in between. The rarest of them all, however, is the Mercedes-AMG G63 V12. With only a handful ever built, we’re sure only a few of you have heard that this model existed. Even better, one of them has come out of hiding in a perfect paradise for these hardcore machines: Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

While initially the number “63” represented the powerful 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, this V12-powered AMG G63 uses a mammoth-sized 6.3-liter 12-cylinder power plant, making around 440 hp and mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. While that amount of power might sound paltry compared to what the newest generation of G63 is making, you need to remember that this SUV was made two decades ago.

An SUV Fit For Royalty

The exclusivity of the AMG G63 V12 comes from the fact that Mercedes-Benz never offered the model publicly, unlike the Brabus-built G V12 900, which means complete information about the nameplate has remained under wraps even today. It is believed that Mercedes only built five of these, with this particular example in Alabaster White ordered new via Gargash Mercedes-Benz of Dubai and delivered to its owner on October 10, 2021.

The existence of the G63 V12 was a closely guarded secret. It is believed that the German marque hand-picked and invited prospective buyers from AMG’s customer database – like a member of a royal family. As it happens, the owner of this G63 V12 that resurfaced was the royal family of Dubai. They kept the vehicle for over two decades, wearing the number “1” plate, since it was used as an official state vehicle.

And You Have A Chance To Own One

This AMG G63 V12 has kept its factory condition over the years, wearing white on the outside and gray leather for its upholstery. It sits on a set of 18-inch five-spoke wheels made out of light alloy, with the lower body protected by high-grade steel. Inside, it’s decorated with burred walnut veneers and velour floor mats, equipped with an electronic sliding roof, TV tuner, CD changer, and a Nokia hands-free system.

More importantly, this 2002 AMG G63 V12 is up for grabs at RM Sotheby’s, with only 27,657 miles on the clock. If you’re interested, you will need to prepare some serious cash as the auction company projects that this ultra-exclusive, royal SUV will fetch anything between $350,000 to $400,000. It will hit the auction block on December 1, 2024.
