
Uzbekistan has signed a contract with TUSAŞ to purchase ANKA UAVs, marking a significant step in its defense modernization efforts. The deliveries are expected to begin soon.
According to SavunmaSanayiST, the exact number of UAVs and the contract value have not been disclosed by the Uzbek side.
Uzbekistan Joins the ANKA UAV Program as the Seventh Country
Türkiye continues to solidify its position as a global leader in the UAV industry. Uzbekistan has now joined Algeria, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Chad, becoming the seventh country to integrate ANKA UAVs into its military inventory.
Technical Specifications of ANKA and AKSUNGUR UAVs
- ANKA: A single-engine UAV with an endurance of 30 hours and a payload capacity of 350 kg.
- AKSUNGUR: A twin-engine UAV capable of staying airborne for over 50 hours and carrying up to 750 kg of payload.
- Both UAVs are compatible with Roketsan’s MAM-L smart munitions. Additionally, AKSUNGUR can carry heavier weapon systems.
ANKA recently successfully fired the LUMTAS Anti-Tank Missile, developed by Roketsan, further enhancing its reputation in the global defense market.
Uzbekistan’s Increasing Investments in Defense
Uzbekistan has been significantly increasing its defense investments to modernize its military forces. In 2024, the country boosted military drills by 50% compared to 2023, focusing on enhancing its personnel training and overall defense capabilities.
With its latest UAV acquisition from Türkiye, Uzbekistan takes another step toward strengthening its military and defense strategy.
