Corum’s Iskilip strawberry has been registered with a geographical indication

Geographical indication registration was given to strawberries produced in Iskilip district of Corum.

In his written statement, Iskilip Mayor Ali Suluk stated that modern strawberry production started in the district in 2011.

Pointing out that strawberry production has spread especially to the mountainous regions of the district in a short time, Suluk said, “Strawberry production has changed the fate of many of our villages with barren lands. Iskilip strawberry production seriously meets the demand of our country and has reached an important point.”

Emphasizing that they are making intense efforts to brand and promote products unique to Iskilip, Suluk said:

“With the initiatives of our Press and Public Relations Directorate, the work carried out for our Iskilip strawberry to receive a geographical indication in 2021 has reached its final result. Our application was concluded positively by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and was registered as Iskilip strawberry on behalf of our district as of October 6, 2023, to be protected as of December 29, 2021.”

Mayor Suluk noted that the number of geographical indication registered products of the district increased to 5 with Iskilip stuffed pepper, Iskilip pickles, Iskilip vinegar salad, tokmaklı oxcart and Iskilip strawberries.
