VitrA Karo, a subsidiary of Eczacıbaşı Group, has taken a significant step toward its sustainability goals with the completion of a 30 MWe/36 MWp solar power plant in Aksaray. This eco-friendly investment follows the 3.5 MW rooftop solar plant commissioned in Bozüyük in 2023, marking the company’s second major milestone in green energy transition.
VitrA Karo to Meet Over Half of Its Electricity Demand from Renewable Sources
With the new solar power plant, more than 50% of the electricity used in VitrA Karo’s Türkiye operations will come from renewable energy sources. Equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each with 550 Wp capacity, the plant will generate enough electricity to power approximately 19,700 households annually and reduce 37,190 tons of carbon emissions per year.
VitrA Karo’s Commitment to 100% Renewable Energy by 2030
VitrA Karo CEO Mert Karasu stated:
“With this investment, we’ve taken another step toward reducing our carbon footprint and achieving our global sustainability targets. Our goal is to meet 50% of our electricity consumption from renewable energy sources by 2025 and 100% by 2030.”
The Aksaray Solar Power Plant (GES), which began installation in April 2024, completed infrastructure work, including PV module assembly, cable installations, inverters, transformers, and transmission lines, and officially began electricity production in February 2025. This innovative project not only delivers environmental and economic benefits but also leads the transformation of the industry.
