Vodafone Launches Next-Generation Network Automation Platform Horizon

Vodafone has launched its next-generation network automation platform, Horizon, designed to support the speed, consistency and scalability required by 5G and next-generation digital network architectures.

According to a company statement, the Horizon platform was developed in cooperation with local technology partner TechNarts and brings together more than 10 network domains under a single automation framework. These include mobile and fixed IP backbone networks, network security, data centers and telco cloud environments. The platform is aimed at increasing agility and operational efficiency across Vodafone’s network services.

With Horizon, fragmented applications previously developed by different teams within Vodafone Türkiye’s network operations have been transformed into reusable automation modules. The platform features software-defined networking (SDN) awareness and API-based orchestration capabilities, enabling existing infrastructure and future digital network architectures to be managed under a unified operational layer.

Horizon provides end-to-end operational integrity across mobile and fixed IP backbone networks, network security, data centers and telco cloud environments.

First Operational Integration with Cisco CNC in Türkiye

Horizon is the first platform in Türkiye to provide direct operational integration with Cisco Crosswork Network Controller (CNC). This integration allows real-time topology information, device status and controller intelligence to become an integral part of daily operational workflows.

Orchestration decisions are made using both SDN controller data and traditional operational logic, resulting in smarter and more context-aware automation. Through integration with Ansible Tower, the platform also enables data center operations to be managed under the same orchestration framework as mobile and fixed backbone operations.

Provisioning, configuration and validation processes are carried out through structured, reusable pipelines, while monitoring, inventory, security and identity systems are fully integrated into the platform. This approach allows different technology layers to operate as a cohesive automation ecosystem rather than in isolation.

By automating around 86,000 recurring activities, Horizon increases operational capability by up to 30%, the company said.

Designed with real engineering workflows in mind, the platform offers customizable dashboards, on-call screens, interfaces tailored to different team needs, and uniform resource locator (URL)-triggered automation windows, delivering an operator-focused and easy-to-adopt user experience.

Positioned as the core automation layer of Vodafone Türkiye’s network operations, Horizon also provides a strong and sustainable foundation for AI-driven operations and next-generation network architectures.

Executive Commentary

Commenting on the launch, Vodafone Türkiye Executive Vice President Yago Lopez said future connectivity technologies require not only strong infrastructure but also intelligent, flexible and software-driven operational capabilities.

“With Horizon, we are moving our operations from standalone solutions to a holistic orchestration approach,” Lopez said. “Developed with our local partner TechNarts, this platform enables more efficient management of our existing networks while creating a scalable, sustainable and future-ready operational foundation for 5G and beyond.”

TechNarts Founder and CEO and Board Member of the Communications Technologies Cluster (HTK) Taha Yaycı said Vodafone Türkiye’s integration of fully locally developed software products into its network ecosystem demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing national communications technologies.

Yaycı added that Horizon illustrates how collaboration between global operators and local technology providers can enable the development of scalable, secure and future-ready platforms, emphasizing that TechNarts remains committed to investing in domestic software solutions that support Türkiye’s digital transformation goals and strengthen technological independence.
